Diving locations
In the section below you’ll find information about our diving locations. The Side | Underwater Museum is the second underwater museum in the world and the first in Europe. The museum is divided in 5 parts with a depth varying between 7 and 25m. The site has various dioramas including ‘Whirling Dervish’, ‘War of Independence’, ‘the Temple of Poseidon’, ‘caravan of camels’ and ‘Flower Garden’ and contains a total of 110 sculptures.
BEACH
For children and adults who don’t like to do deeper dives, we offer dives from the beach or pier. Especially for novice divers it’s a good start if you think the pool is too dull. You just need to suit up and walk into the sea. This dive goes to a depth of 2,5 to 3 meters and you will be surprised how much fish and other marine life you can see in summer.
HOUSE REEF
Our most popular location is ‘Turtle Reef’ and you can already guess why! On this location you’re not only able to see a lot of fish, but in summer season we give almost a 100% guarantee that you will see the beautiful Caretta Caretta. Almost, because we are handed over to the will of nature.
BIKE WAY
This location is at the opposite of the dive center and the depth goes to 10 to 12 meters. Perhaps you’ll see turtles, moray eels, barracudas, grouper fish and rays but of course we can’t give a guarantee. The name is borrowed from the bike that you can find since many years on this location.
RALPHS REEF
When you go to Ralphs Reef, you’ll descent to 18 – 20 mt. That’s why this location is only for certified divers. When you dive at this location you’re likely to see Ralph, our big Grouper friend. The location is very near to our center so the transfer time is about 5 minutes by boat.
SIDE REEF 1
This is a wonderful location that can be entered by novice and certified divers. The dive starts at 6-7m and slowly descends to 12m when you go to the cave. Because of the possibilities we can go here with both newcomers and certified divers. Here you can see turtles, barracudas in bigger groups, a larger diversity of fish, sea rabbits, rays, tuna fish, and special fishes that only live in the cave and you can see a part of the Side | Underwater Museum.
CAMEL ROAD
Camel Road is a brand new location nearby Side. The dive goes to a maximum depth of 20 meters. Like the name says, you can see real-sized statues of camels. This location is a part of the Side Underwater Museum.
WRECK TCSG-117
For our advanced divers it’s possible to wreck dive. The name of the wreck is TCSG-117 (Turkish Sea Guard). The wreck is moored in 2008. The last rest-place lays 3 km in front of the coast of Side. The length of the wreck is 30m and the maximum depth is 25m. Here you can see a part of the Underwater Museum as well
