START YOUR ELEARNING COURSE WITH SIDE AZURA

PADI eLearning & Touch

Studying for an upcoming PADI Course?
There are various options for completing the Knowledge Development.

In the past it used to be the case that in order to take a PADI Course during your holiday, you would have to spend a lot of time at the dive center or in your hotelroom, working your way through the study materials. We can imagine you would like to use your spare holiday time otherwise!

Learning to dive has never been more convenient!

PADI have created two different solutions to the problem above: ‘eLearning’ and ‘Touch’. Whether you want to learn to scuba dive or are already a scuba diver who is looking for a flexible way to fit another dive course into your busy schedule, PADI’s online scuba programs are the way to go. You can get started immediately with the knowledge development portion of the course and work at your own pace using the PADI eLearning® system. This convenient, interactive study option allows you to learn anytime and anywhere you have an internet connection.

PADI Touch

PADI Touch an interactive manual. It is downloaded to your device, and you work through it in much the same way as you would with a paper manual. You do not need to be connected to the internet to use Touch (although you do need an internet connection to download it initially, of course).

Touch also includes the videos which would traditionally have been viewed in the dive center. The Touch manual will always be accessible for review in the future, and will automatically be updated as the course content gets renewed. You can download Touch through the PADI Library app, which is available in the Apple Store or Google Play.

PADI eLearning

PADI eLearning is a virtual classroom. Once you sign up you will be able to access the study materials for your chosen course so that you can work through the Knowledge Development portion of the course in your own time, anywhere where you have access to a high speed internet connection.

The course content will be read out to you, and you will complete the Knowledge Reviews and Final exam as you go along.  Once you have completed all of the independent study  you will be presented with an eRecord documenting your progress. Print off your eRecord and bring it to the dive center to start the in-water training with our instructor!

Which courses are available with Touch?

Currently Touch is only available for the Open Water course, so if you wish to further your training with continuing education then you have to use eLearning or follow the traditional method of reading the printed manual.

Which courses are available with eLearning?

At present, eLearning at Side Azura is available for the following PADI programmes: PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Scuba Tune-up, Dive Theory, PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Divemaster

Do I get discount on the in-water training with eLearning?

Yes. Having completed your knowledge development before commencing the course saves the dive center some time and resources, and we pass this saving back to you. When doing the PADI Open Water Diver, we will discount your training if you have already completed the Knowledge Development through eLearning or Touch with a whopping 130 euro of the regular price.

Important notice
You do have to pay PADI for access to PADI eLearning and Touch, and so overall the cost of studying in this manner is a bit higher than the traditional manner of reading the paper manual and learning the theory at the dive center.

But having access to the material long before your holiday means that you can study at a relaxed pace, with ample time to review anything you have not fully understood. Furthermore, you will not waste valuable holiday time reading your manual – you can keep that time for enjoying yourself!

More information

The price for PADI eLearning depends per region. Please check here the prices for your country.

This course requires both knowledge development and inwater training for certification. When you purchase a PADI eLearning course, the cost covers the knowledge development portion only. (Including the certification fee)

There will be an additional cost to complete your certification with our dive center. This will cover:

  • Diving equipment rental during the whole course. This includes:  a mask, snorkel and fins, a regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), air tank (cylinder) and exposure protection (wetsuit) + weights for all dives.
  • Pool training to get equintanced with with all skills before you start your dives at open water.
  • 4 sea dives (depths to 5 + 10 + 12 + 18 meters). During these dives you’ll develop your diving skills that you’ve practised in the pool.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do you have to be to start scuba diving?

The minimum age is 10 years old. Student divers who are younger than 15 earn the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification.

The Junior Open Water certification comes with restrictions.

  • Divers 10-11 years old must dive with a PADI Professional or a certified parent or guardian, and dives cannot exceed 12 meters/40 feet.
  • Divers 12-14 years old must dive with a certified adult and dives cannot exceed 18 meters / 60 feet
  • Children under the age of 13 require parent or guardian permission to register for PADI eLearning.
  • Jr. Open Water Divers may upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver certification at age 15 by requesting a new certification card (no additional training is required).
Does a PADI scuba certificate expire?

No, it doesn’t! 🙂 But, if you haven’t been diving in a while and wish to refresh your scuba safety knowledge and skills, you can always do a refreshment with our diving center for just 10 euro extra on the regular price.

What if I feel claustrophobic?

Generally we see it’s not a problem. People find the “weightlessness” of scuba diving to be quite freeing! Modern scuba masks are available in translucent models, which you may prefer. During your scuba diving training, our instructor will give you plenty of time and assistance to ensure you are comfortable. This is important for you and us both!
